DaimlerChrysler to increase sourcing of components from India
US based automaker DaimlerChrysler has said that they aim to increase their auto component sourcing from the Indian market in the coming years.
This would help them serve their operations in other countries including Japan, Germany and the US. DaimlerChrysler said that they are relying on the Indian industry’s high product quality and price competitiveness.
DaimlerChrysler Indian operation’s Chief Wilfried Aulbur said in a statement: “DaimlerChrysler is serving all the major markets through a group of Indian component makers and the sourcing will witness a 20 per cent growth in 2006.”
He however refused to reveal more details on their plans on finances of these deals. They have already been outsourcing components from India for the last eight years. The company also manufactures cars in the Indian market through their subsidiary Mercedes Benz.
