Airbus aims to speed up work on A380 passenger jet

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has said that they are trying to speed up the production process of A380 passenger jet.

The company said that are aiming to deliver at least 48 A380 passenger jets a year from 2010. The accelerated program would help them counter the already delayed program, which has suffered from several technical problems.

Airbus executive vice-president Edouard Ullmo said in a statement that the first of the A380 would be delivered in October next year. He further said that airline companies have reasons to stick with their orders for the plane as cost of the A380 would drop with every concession and penalty Airbus had to pay for late delivery.

The company has already received orders for around 166 aircrafts from 15 major airlines worldwide.
