Ericsson establishes a research facility in Chennai India
Swedish telecom major Ericsson has confirmed their plans to expand further into the Indian market as they have just opened up their research and development (R&D) facility in Chennai.
This new center would work on developing charging solutions and value-added solutions targeted at the pre-paid and multimedia segments.
Interestingly the company has been working on similar projects since the beginning of the year at a temporary facility. Now, they have an official setup to carry out some serious R&D work in India.
This newly established center already as around 50 professionals employed by the company. Ericsson has also setup a global services delivery centre in Chennai to cater to the needs of its global clients.
A company representative added that they plan to invest over $100 million per annum in the next few years in India. They already have a manufacturing facility in Rajasthan to make mobile base stations and switches and are also considering putting up a manufacturing facility in Chennai.
