BitTorrent Inc. signs on more licensing deals for their upcoming download service

BitTorrent Inc. is the developer of the popular file sharing technology. The company has now said that they have reached new licensing deals, which would enable them to offer more digital content including movies and TV shows through their video download service launching next year.

The company confirmed that they have signed on deals with Viacom Inc.’s Paramount Pictures, News Corp.’s 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate, Palm Pictures and Kadokawa Pictures USA. In addition, they have signed on deals with cable television networks G4 and Starz Media in addition to MTV Networks, VH1, SpikeTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and Logo.

This means that BitTorrent would now be able to offer hit movies like “X-Men The Last Stand,” “Saw III” and “Mission: Impossible III,” and TV shows “Star Trek,” “Laguna Beach” and “South Park.”

The company is already in similar agreements with Time Warner Inc.’s Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Egami Media, Hart Sharp, Koch Entertainment and The Orchard.

BitTorrent aims to launch their service February and expects to offer thousands of video titles along with music and software applications.
