General Motors to launch Opel branded cars in USA

General Motors recently withdrew their Opel branded cars from the Indian market as they are concentrating on expanding the Chevrolet brand here in India.

They are now doing something different for their home market. GM has said that they are committed to improving vehicle quality and design and would be bringing a small car from its European Opel unit as a US Saturn model starting in 2007.

This would be part of their aim to improve their product quality in the region. GM is facing intense competition from Japanese automakers including Toyota and Honda and is working hard on launching new exciting products to bring customers back to their showrooms.

GM said that their Saturn Astra would come in three- and five-door models.
