WSJ: Fox, Viacom, CBS and NBC planning a potential YouTube.com challenger
Wall Street Journal has reported that media giants Fox, Viacom, CBS and NBC are talking about collaborating together to create a potential challenger to Google owned video sharing website YouTube.com.
The deal is however far from being signed though they are said to be talking about creating a web portal to showcase the videos from their television networks.
The companies want to gain revenues from the fast-growing market of Web video advertising. YouTube.com has been one of the most popular online destinations for today’s youth and was recently acquired by the search engine giant Google for a reported $1.65 billion in stock.
Interestingly, Walt Disney is said to be not joining this group considering they want to rely on their own brand value to bring in web users.
