Nissan not in hurry to expand in the US market

Nissan Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn has said in a statement that the company has no current plans to expand their presence in the US market which is increasingly being dominated by Japanese automakers.

Ghosn said in a statement: “There’s no doubt in my mind that with the product range, at a certain point in time we will need more capacity. The question is when.”

He was speaking to the media personals at a news conference unveiling Nissan’s new design center outside of Tokyo.

He further said that the company won’t improve their sales figures by much in the US market this year. This means that they have no current needs to expand the manufacturing capacity in the region.

Nissan has existing manufacturing capacities to build 1.33 million vehicles a year in this region.
