Turner International to open theme parks in India!

Appu Ghar finally has some competition! Turner International India Pvt Ltd has confirmed that they are planning to open two theme parks in India in the coming years. The company already has a presence in the kid entertainment market through their television channels Cartoon Network and POGO.

The company announced that it was entering into the business of theme parks in the country that will entail a total investment of Rs 550 crore. One of these theme parks would be called ‘Cartoon Network Townsville’ and it would be setup at the “Worlds of Wonder” park situated in NOIDA on the outskirts of Delhi.

For this venture, Turner International is establishing a strategic business alliance with International Recreation Parks Pvt Ltd (IRPPL). The other park would be the ‘Planet POGO’ and it would be located along with the “Adventure Island” park in Rohini in west Delhi through a similar alliance with Unitech Amusement Parks Ltd (UAPL).

Both of these theme parks would be open to the public by next year. Turner Entertainment Network Asia Inc senior vice-president Ian Diamond said in a statement on these new ventures: “We are moving to the next level by bringing to India world class, next generation theme parks that will truly catapult India into the international map of high-quality destination entertainment centers for kids and their families”.
