Moser Baer to offer cheap movie VCDs and DVDs in India

Indian consumers have something to cheer about as Optical storage and devices maker Moser Baer has decided to enter into the Indian home video market.

The company has stated that they would now be launching video content on DVD and Video CD formats using its proprietary and patented technology.

They are already in negotiations to acquire copyrights of more than 7,000 titles in all major Indian languages.

Moser Baer is considering launching these movies at Rs 28-34 for VCDs and DVDs. this is much cheaper than existing solutions available in the market.

Executive Director Ratul Puri said in a statement that they are considering spending up to 5 billion rupees over a couple of years to acquire copyrights of movie titles.

He further said: “We have the patented new optical technology which we have developed to make the titles available at the low prices.”
