Sharp to enhance their production of LCD panels

Japan’s Sharp Corp. has said that they would practically double their liquid crystal display (LCD) panel production by opening its second plant.

With this, Sharp would be producing 30,000 glass substrates a month by January. The company is almost two months ahead of the original schedule.

Sony and Samsung are both using seventh-generation glass in their joint venture. Sharp is currently the world’s third-largest LCD TV maker by value. Samsung and Sony are the leaders in the market.

Sharp has also said that they would be spending 150 billion yen to bring the capacity at the second Kameyama plant to 30,000 glass substrates a month.
