Emirates Airline Company asking Airbus to pay compensation for delays in A380 superjumbo aircraft
Dubai-based airline company Emirates is currently the single largest client for Airbus’s delayed A380 superjumbo aircraft.
The company is now demanding that Airbus should compensate them for these unexpected delays in the deliveries of the planes.
Emirates Shaikh Ahmed bin Sayed Al Maktoum said in a statement: “We expect compensation because we have sustained enormous financial damages because of these delays. Compensation is now our right.”
This would be the first time that a company representative has publicly demanded compensation for the delivery delay of their ordered planes.
Emirates has placed orders of 43 A380 aircrafts. Shaikh Ahmed added: “After the first delay, we had the option of canceling our order but we did not do it because the consequences would have been worse. The problem is that there is no alternative. It was difficult to consider canceling the order and buying new planes on the market, because the delivery would have coincided with the A380s’ arrival.”
