Alcatel-Lucent to continue investments in India
French telecom major Alcatel recently completed the mega acquisition of Lucent. The combined company has said that they are planning to keep their investments going on in India in the coming years.
Alcatel Lucent plans to invest $200 million in India every year over the next few years.
Alcatel-Lucent country-head Ravi Sharma said in a statement: “Till now we have invested more than one billion Euros and are still continuing. Our further investment are to the tune of 200 million dollar every year in various activities, including R&D.”
The company is in collaboration with state-run ITI and have plants located in Mankapur and Rai Bareily. They are now planning to add more plants to start manufacturing ADSL technology related hardware used by broadband companies.
They are also planning to enter the CDMA segment of the telecom sector by selling related products. Sharma said: “We are in talks with all new operators who are expanding operations, including Reliance Communications.”
