Tata Motors has no plans to get out of West Bengal currently
Indian automaker Tata Motors has clarified that they currently have no plans to get out of West Bengal looking at the political crises in the state due to their upcoming plans in the region.
Tata Group chief Rata Tata said in an interview on NDTV that his company has no intention of scaling back its plans for a new car factory in eastern India.
The government of West Bengal state sold the company agricultural land for establishing the base for their upcoming Rs. 1 lakh car.
This allocation has been criticized by farmers and opposition politicians. One of the leading politicians in the state has in fact gone on hunger strike over the issue.
Rattan Tata said in the statement: “I think the West Bengal government has been very steadfast in its support of the project and I think it would be wrong for us to say that we will pull out and go.”
