Chrysler to collaborate with China based Chery Automobile Co.

This deal could be the starting of a totally new trend. Chrysler has signed on a deal with China based Chery Automobile Co.

The two companies would build compact cars in china and these cars would be sold in several auto markets in the world.

Chrysler Chief Executive Tom LaSorda signed on a preliminary deal with Chery representatives. This was confirmed by Chrysler spokesman Jason Vines.

However, this collaborative affair would still require approval from the Chinese government. In addition, Chrysler would have to get this project approved from corporate parent, DaimlerChrysler AG.

Chrysler had been looking for a partner to build small cars for their domestic market in America and this could be their big chance to get back at Japanese companies which are now dominating their home market.
