Big Bazaar opens up in Chennai

Big Bazaar to enter Chennai
Pantaloon Retail’s Big Bazaar retailing chain has opened up its first standalone store in the Chennai city.
With this they have a total number of 40 stores operating around the country.
This Chennai based store is setup in an area of over 50,000 sq feet store and the company has invested close to around Rs. 15 crore on this project.
And the company is continuing to bet on their promise ‘nobody sells cheaper and better’.
Pantaloon Retail head operations south Rohit Malhotra spoke on this development: “This is our tenth store in south India and we plan to take it to 33 by the end of this year. In Chennai alone, we would be adding close to five to seven Big Bazaars by 2007.”
He further said: “We targeting a footfall of 50,000 per day and we feel the opening of a store in Chennai will bring significant value addition to a homemaker”.
