AT&T completes BellSouth deal after the approval from Federal Communications Commission
Telecom Company AT&T has extended its domination in the American market by completing the acquisition of BellSouth after getting the requisite approval from the Federal Communications Commission.
This acquisition is the largest telecommunications takeover in U.S. history.
The Federal Communications Commission approved this acquisition yesterday. The deal was worth around $86 billion.
The approval was finalized after AT&T offered new concessions for consumers and competitors.
AT&T as part of these concessions has promised to observe “network neutrality” and they would not favor companies who pay more. They would also offer $19.95 per month stand-alone digital subscriber line service.
This combined company would now have about $117 billion in revenue and operate 68.7 million local phone lines.
