Boeing gets an order worth $5.6 Billion from Korean Air
US based aircraft manufacturer Boeing has received another mega order. This time from Korean Air. The company has completed an order for 25 planes from the South Korea’s largest carrier.
This new order include 10 777-300 ERs, five 747-8 freighters and five 777 freighters. At market value of the planes, the order is worth around USD 5.6 billion.
Korean Air Chairman Cho Yang Ho spoke on this development: “Introducing the next generation high-tech airplane is one of the strategies to effect a strengthening of global competitiveness, and enhance customer service. We are planning to provide a ‘high-end’ service to our customers by continually introducing high-tech airplanes.”
This deal helped Boeing gain an edge over rival Airbus as the year ended on a high note for the company. Boeing is now likely to have more orders for the year 2006 compared to Airbus.
Korean Air added in its statement that they are aiming to increase its fleet to 137 planes by 2010 from the current 118.
