Amazon.com acquires Shopbop.com
Online ecommerce giants Amazon.com have reported that they are acquiring privately held fashion retailer Shopbop.com. The company also added that they don’t plan to merge the site with Amazon.com portal and would be running it independently.
Neither of the two companies revealed the financial details behind the deal stuck between them. Amazon.com however did mention that Shopbop.com, which specializes in high-end fashion, would maintain its base in Madison, Wis.
Interestingly, Amazon.com already has a presence in the clothing market as they sell them online on their stores. They said that Shopbop.com would now complement their operations on the net. Amazon.com has some really high prolific fashion line, which features items from designers such as Calvin Klein, Armani, Gucci, and Versace.
