Tata Motors post impressive sales gain in December 2006

Domestic automaker Tata Motors has said that they have posted a 37 per cent increase in its total vehicle sales during December.

Tata Motors sold as many as 48,792 units (including exports) in December 2006 compared to 35,598 units in the same month a year ago.

The company gained from impressive sales of their Indica car which saw sales of 10,588 units. It was an improvement of over 52 per cent over the same period a year ago.

Tata also gained from improved sales of their MUV Sumo and Safari. These two vehicles saw sales of 3,850 units in the month.

Tata Motors exported 4,098 units last month compared to exports of 3,831 units in December 2005. Overall a very healthy month for the company which is facing political resistance in establishing their base in West Bengal.
