Taiwan gets its own Bullet Train
Taiwan is set to join the exclusive group of countries having their own bullet trains. This much awaited service will finally go in to service today.
This bullet train service would link the island’s north and south regions. Experts believe that this convenience would dramatically change the country’s economic landscape.
The first commercial run of the train would take place 2300 GMT Thursday. It would travel through the country touching the highest speeds of 300 kilometers per hour.
The train would depart from the northern city of Panchiao and would end in Kaohsiung. It would cover a distance of 345-kilometers on this route. Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation has already sold more than 80,000 tickets for this train service.
