Virgin Mobile USA has more than 4.6 million subscribers
US based mobile service provider Virgin Mobile USA has said that they ended the last year with a 4.6 million wireless subscriber base.
This is an improvement by around 600,000 subscribers since their last released figures in April.
The company is owned jointly by Sprint Nextel Corp. and Virgin Mobile Holdings PLC.
Virgin further said that their customers sent or received 1.5 billion text messages during 2006. These users also downloaded more than 14.8 million ringtones and 2.5 million mobile games and graphics last year.
The company had started their operations in the US in July 2002. Virgin further said that they managed to turn its first operating profit in the first quarter of 2006. They are currently the America’s biggest “virtual” wireless provider. They use Sprint’s network to provide their mobile services in the country.
