Cingular Wireless raises SMS prices for customers without a monthly texting plan
US based mobile service provider Cingular Wireless has announced a hike in the rates of sending SMS messages for those customers who are without a monthly texting plan with the company.
The company would now be charging them 15 cents per SMS compared to 10 cents per message earlier.
They are just matching the prices offered by rivals Sprint Nextel who just recently raised the prices from 10 cents to 15 cents per SMS.
Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA currently charge 10 cents per message from customers who are not on a texting plan with them.
Cingular said that these new rates would be applicable from January 21. Neither Cingular nor Sprint has changed the prices of their plans for customers who purchase a package for sending text messages from their mobile devices.
