Boeing got orders for 1,044 planes last year
Boeing managed to overtake rivals Airbus in terms of new orders. The company got orders for 1,044 planes in the year 2006.
This is a record performance for the company as they outdid Airbus for the first time since 2000.
Boeing gained from strong orders from European, Middle Eastern and Asian airline companies. They are also at an advantage with their new lightweight 787 Dreamliner which is in much demand in the market.
Airbus in comparison managed to get orders for just around 635 planes. Boeing’s order for the year 2006 is worth $114 billion at list prices. However, Airbus still kept the record for most orders in a year with their record of 1,055 net orders in 2005.
Airbus also is ahead when it comes to delivering airplanes to their customers. They delivered 399 planes last year. Boeing fell short by just a single unit. Close fight…
