Volkswagen had a good 2006 with sales of 5.73 million cars
German automaker Volkswagen had a good year last year as they saw sales of a record 5.73 million units in 2006.
The company gained from improved sales in their international markets around the world. This is an improvement of around 9.3 percent compared to last year.
The Volkswagen brand itself saw sales improvement of around 10% as it sold a record 3.39 million units in 2006.
Company’s sales in the Western Europe rose 5.8 percent to 3.11 million units. VW further said that they continued to perform well in the Chinese market where they are a dominating player despite the growing competition from international rivals.
VW boosted their sales in China by 24.3 percent to sell 711,000 vehicles.
