Nissan Motor targeting Russia for growth
Japanese auto manufacturer Nissan is now looking towards the Russian market for growth in the coming years. The company posted an impressive jump of 63.5% in Russian sales last year to 46,485 units compared to last year.
Nissan’s Chief Operating Officer Toshiyuki Shiga added that the company is now preparing for a growth plan for their vehicles in this market. They have a three-year long plan to expand their presence in Russia and their efforts would begin from the starting of next financial year in April.
The company is also considering establishing a plant in Russia to fuel these growth plans. The company has further plans to expand their businesses in China, which is in the neighbor of Russia. A manufacturing base here would help them stimulate the growth in the region.
Media reports claim that Nissan already has picked a site for the construction of a new automotive plant outside of St. Petersburg. Their domestic rivals Toyota are already in the process of establishing a manufacturing base in the same region near St. Petersburg.
