Pepsi to target mini metros with Mountain Dew

One of the dominating players in the soft drink market in India, Pepsi has said in a statement that they are repositioning the target market for their cold drink Mountain Dew (the favorite drink of the TechWhack team!).

The company said in a statement that they would now be focusing this brand on the mini metros in the country. The aim is to boost the sales by creating brand awareness of this lemon-flavored drink.

PepsiCo India Executive Director (Marketing) Punita Lal spoke about this brand: “Mountain Dew has been one of the fastest brands in Pepsico’s portfolio since its launch about three years back driven mainly by consumers from metros. Now we are looking at the next level of growth for which we are targeting the mini-metros.”

Pepsi also launched a fresh look Mountain Dew with a new formulation. They are now also aiming at taking away market share of other similar drinks in the market by promoting their Mountain Dew around the country.

However, if the new flavored Mountain Dew is not as good as the older version, they are sure to lose a couple of fans here in Gurgaon!
