Chevy Spark could boost GM sales in India

General Motors aiming to double sales in India
US based automaker General Motors have said that they are aiming to double sales in the Indian market 72,000 units in calendar year 2007.
The company has just launched an exciting product in the form of Chevy UVA and is also in the process of launching the Matiz successor Chevy Spark in India.
These two products are essentially mass volume products and can give GM the sales they need to achieve their target in the Indian market.
GM added in a statement that they sold 36,000 units in India in 2006. A company spokesperson said: “We are entering into new segments…we are launching new cars and entering into the untapped minicar segment where we are not present now”.
The company is also expanding its network of dealerships and workshops in the country.
