Yahoo! China to focus on business searching
Internet industry giants Yahoo! has said that their Chinese edition would now be reorganized to function more as a business-oriented search engine.
The company said that this is essential to survive in the market which is seeing intense competition from both international and domestic rivals.
Baidu.com is the most popular search engine in the country and even Google is finding it hard to compete against the local giant.
Jack Ma, CEO of e-commerce company Alibaba Group said that this reorganization would help them compete better against rivals including Baidu.com and Sina.com.
They are aiming to provide more specialized services rather than replicating what the others are already providing. The company is losing money at a fast pace and such a drastic step is important to survive in the second biggest internet market in the world.
