Hyundai Getz to be made completely in India
South Korean automaker Hyundai has plans to completely shift the manufacturing of their Getz car to its Indian plant. The company would also be manufacturing their under-development compact car, codenamed project PA in India.
Hyundai would then be exporting both these cars from its Indian plant. They already are exporting Accent and Santro from here.
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) MD HS Lheem spoke about their plans: “Currently, the Getz is being produced in Korea and India but Hyundai Motor Corp has decided that Getz will move to India. From March 2007 we will start exporting the Getz to Europe from India.”
He further said: “The HMC has taken a firm decision that the PA will be produced only in India and it will be exported as well as sold domestically.”
The company’s PA model would feature new power train and new design. They however have no plans to stop the manufacturing of their Santro model in India.
