Rumors: Toyota can build 5 new plants in North America

Market sources claim that the Japanese automaker Toyota might setup as many as five new manufacturing plants in the North American region to prepare for the ever growing demand for their cars in this market.

The company has become the third largest automobile supplier in the United States overtaking Chrysler and they are almost sure to overtake Ford this year.

And if things really go their way, they could even displace General Motors from the top spot in this market.

Sources claim that the company is likely to build at least one auto factory in the southeastern United States and one in Mexico.

Jim Lentz, Toyota’s executive vice president of U.S. sales had just this to say about the company’s plans for this region: “We’re doing right now a fairly in- depth study for 2015.”

The company sold 2.54 million vehicles last year in the United States. Their market share in this region has risen to 15.4 percent from 13.3 percent a year earlier.
