Nissan working on a cheap car for the developing markets
Nissan Motor Co. is considering plans to build a low cost car for the emerging markets around the world. This car could be created in an alliance with their partner Renault.
Renault already has such a car under the Logan family sedan brand which they are bringing in the Indian market.
Renault has sold 400,000 units of Logan and most of these sales came in last year alone. They are selling this car in as many as 51 countries around the world including Russia, Romania and Columbia. India would further add to these sales this year.
Nissan has to think about developing such a vehicle considering the rival companies are working on similar plans. Asian markets including China and India are becoming more important than ever and these companies need such vehicles to create a market for themselves here.
Nissan also recently talked about their plans to enter in India. They are working on the details and are considering whether to enter alone or in collaboration with Renault. Renault has formed collaboration with Mahindra for their venture in India.
