Indian Institutes of Management to become a global brand now
It is finally confirmed that the Institutes of Management would now be allowed to open campuses overseas. This decision comes after a month long stalemate between the Indian Institutes of Management and the Human Resource Development Ministry, which ended earlier this week.
The Indian Human, Resource, and Development minister Arjun Singh informing the directors of IIM about this exciting new decision of the government. However, he did take care to take an assurance from the IIM that the revenues would come back to the country in the process of establishing IIM branches around the world.
The decision was finalized at a meeting Mr. Singh had with the six IIM directors here. Arjun Singh said in a statement: “I informed them that the Ministry had no objection to their going to any country but they must change their MoAs.” Now the IIM board would have to amend their Memoranda of Associations (MoAs) to make this possible.
Mr. Singh added on the decision to allow IIM to open their campuses abroad: “We are not opposed to global branding, but we want Indian branding first”.
