BMW report impressive sales gain in Chinese auto market
Germany based luxury car maker BMW said that they are performing well in the ever growing Chinese market. The company sold 51.3 percent more cars in mainland China in 2006 compared to the previous year.
China has also just become the second largest auto market in the world overtaking Japan. They now trail the United States in this segment.
BMW said that they sold 36,357 cars in china last year. This is up from sales of 24,025 cars in 2005.
The BMW branded cars itself saw sales of 35,300 units. The company sold 1,057 units of the Mini car.
Including sales of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, BMW managed to sell 44,719 vehicles last year.
They are not the only international car makers to show improvement in the Chinese market. Ford, GM, VW are other companies which have reported impressive sales gain in this region.
