Sunil Mittal is Asia’s Businessman of the Year
US based Forbes magazine has named Sunil Mittal as their Asia’s Businessman of the Year. Sunil Mittal is the force behind the India’s largest mobile service provider Airtel.
Fortune said in its report that Mittal after becoming the dominating player in the Indian telecom market is now entering his “most audacious” foreign partnership yet.
Mittal’s Bharti group recently announced their plans to team with Wal-Mart to transform India’s under-developed retail market.
Bharti has said that they are planning to open up hundreds of stores over the next five years in various formats around the country. The company is considering investing around USD 1 billion in this venture initially.
Bharti Airtel has emerged as India’s fourth most-valuable firm and Sunil Mittal is one of the richest men in the country.
