Airbus suffer decreased market share in 2006

Year 2006 was not so good for the European airline company Airbus. Rivals Boeing managed to beat them in terms of new orders gained during the year.

And the company also suffered a decreased market share. This was basically due to weak sales of their planes.

Airbus’ share of the wide-bodied aircraft market fell from 45 per cent in 2005 to 40 per cent in 2006 in the aviation market.

The company is due to reveal the official figures of orders received last year on January 17. Market sources claim that Airbus received orders for around 800 planes last year.

A report in Financial Times Deutschland newspaper claims that these poorer figures are due to relatively poor sales of the A330/340. Airbus is also suffering from production problems associated with the A380 and the new A350.
