Skoda Auto produced a record 556,443 cars in its Czech plants in 2006

Czech car maker Skoda Auto has reported that they produced a record 556,443 cars in its Czech plants in 2006. This performance is a growth of 12.5 percent from 2005.

The company has aimed to manufacture 580,000 units this year. In addition Skoda also is planning to launch license production in China.

Skoda also managed to sell around 549,667 units last year. This is also a record figure for the company. They sold 270,274 units of Octavia and 243,982 units of Fabia.

In addition, they also sold 20,989 Superbs and 14,422 Roomsters. The Roomster model was just launched in June last year.

The company also sells their vehicles in around 90 countries around the world including India. They achieved sales gain of around 11% in these markets. Their biggest markets by numbers are Germany, Great Britain, Spain and Austria.
