Peugeot to experiment selling secondhand cars online
Automaker Peugeot has said that they would soon start offering second-hand cars on sale on the web. However, they plan to make sure that their dealers are not upset by this move.
The company said in a statement that they would begin by offering about 100 of its small 1007 models with sliding doors on sale at the Vente Privee website.
These cars would be offered in three different configurations. The car was originally launched in 2004 and has seen little demand in the market since then.
Peugeot said that they are not certain whether buyers would be interested in spending enough money to buy cars on the net. However, they have no current plans to start more general online sales.
The company stressed that this little experiment would not go against their dealers who sell their newer models in the market.
Peugeot would demand a down payment by cheque prior to delivery for these cars available on sale on the web.
