Ford showcases Focus Coupé-Cabriolet

Ford is one of the three big North American automobile manufacturers who are finding it hard to face the growing competition in the domestic market provided by Japanese and South Korean automobile giants.

The company is now targeting expanding their presence in the compact car segment and has showcased the new Ford Focus Coupé-Cabriolet. With this, the company makes a return to the world of open-topped motoring.

Ford displayed this latest car at the ongoing 2006 Geneva Motor Show. The company received an impressive response to this model as they were inspired by the huge interests in the Ford’s Vignale Concept.

Focus Coupé-Cabriolet has been developed jointly by Ford of Europe and Italy’s Pininfarina who are famous all around the world for their automobile designs. This model is expected to go into mass production later this year itself.

Gunnar Herrmann, Vehicle Line Director for the Ford Focus said in a statement on this car: “We were delighted with the reaction to the Focus Vignale Concept and were determined to progress it to volume production. We also wanted to keep the production model as true to the beautiful concept car as we could, while making it convenient and affordable for everyday use.”
