Air France-KLM not going for a stake in Italian carrier Alitalia
Media reports have claimed that the Air France-KLM has not made an offer for the Italian carrier Alitalia. Air France-KLM is the Europe’s largest airline company and they seem to have abandoned the plans to get a stake in the loss making airline company.
French paper La Tribune reported that the company felt that the Alitalia bid would be too expensive. In addition, they also feared that the process to restructure Alitalia to fit into their structure would be too complicated.
The airline company has yet not commented on these reports in the media.
Interested parties have till Jan. 29 to express their interest in bidding for the company.
La Tribune added in the report that the company would continue to monitor the situation and might help another interested party in going ahead with a bid.
The Italian government has said that the interested party would have to acquire a 30.1 stake in the airline which has not posted an annual profit since 2002.
