Advanced Micro Devices post losses on acquisition costs
Advanced Micro Devices is the second largest maker of personal computer microprocessor maker after Intel. The company has come out with their revenue reports and posted a loss in the fourth quarter.
AMD suffered due to massive costs of the recent acquisition of graphic card maker ATI. In addition, they are also suffered from negating processor sales in the market due to rapidly increasing popularity of Core range of Intel processors.
The company is also in a brutal price war against Intel which lessens their profit margins. Their shipments of its high-margin server chips have been essentially flat compared with the third quarter.
AMD however reported that they noticed stronger sales of their notebook range of processors.
Overall, the company posted a net loss of $574 million, or $1.08 per share. Last year in the same period AMD had posted earnings of $96 million, or 21 cents per share.
