AT&T posts improved quarterly earnings
US based telecom giant AT&T has come out with their latest quarterly report and the company has posted a higher quarterly profit.
The company gained from both the internet and mobile markets. AT&T also raised its estimate of benefits from the BellSouth acquisition.
Christopher King, an analyst at Stifel Nicolaus spoke on this improved performance by AT&T: “I think people clearly want to own the (AT&T) name at this point. They’re managing margins and costs. The Street seems to be rewarding them for that.”
AT&T said that they are raising its estimate of synergies in 2008 and 2009. The company completed their merger with SBC Communications Inc. in 2005.
The company reported that its fourth quarter net income rose 17.1 percent from a year earlier to $1.9 billion.
