Siemens to acquire UGS Corp. for $3.5 billion
German tech company Siemens has said that they are acquiring U.S. software maker UGS Corp. for $3.5 billion.
The company also said that they are planning to issue an initial public offering of its automotive engineering unit, VDO.
Siemens said that the acquisition of UGS would get them access to industrial software for planning, design and simulation to its the automation-technology portfolio.
Siemens would offer these solutions through their factory-automation unit, A&D.
The company further said that the IPO of VDO would get them additional financial resources and flexibility for future growth.
