AP Online Video Network: Associated Press and Microsoft launch online video news service
News media group Associated Press has launched a video news service on the internet in collaboration with software giants Microsoft. This would enable the partner sites of AP to offer video news clips. These partners would also be able to share advertising revenue generated from the service.
This new service is called ‘AP Online Video Network’ and it is powered by MSN Video technology. Some of the first news stories covered by this service were news stories of New Orleans cleaning up after Mardi Gras and a special section about the six-month anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
AP would be providing close to 40 video news clips on a daily basis through this service. They would be covering both national and international news events in addition to news related to business, technology, and entertainment.
Associated Press is aiming to target the 45 million unique visitors to their and client’s websites on the internet through this new service. These videos would be freely available and the company would be earning through advertisement featured in the beginning of these clips.
