IBM acquiring Softek Storage Solutions

US based tech giant IBM has confirmed that they are acquiring Softek Storage Solutions. The financial aspects of the deal have not been revealed to the media.

IBM now plans to use their data mobility technology to build more flexible and efficient storage systems for their customers of the Global Technology Services division.

IBM said that the Softek’s Transparent Data Migration Facility (TDMF) product can be used to keep data available even when it is moved from one storage system to another. The product is available for both Windows and UNIX platform.

The two companies have been working together since many years now. Softek’s Chief Executive Officer Steven Murphy said that their customers can continue to expect the “IBM’s continued commitment” after the acquisition is complete.
