Symantec to acquire Altiris
Security applications developer Symantec has said that they are acquiring Altiris. The company specializes in developing asset management software for mobile devices and other hardware.
The deal is worth around $830 million.
Symantec would be merging this newly acquiring unit into their endpoint security products. Symantec’s this division deal with compliance, security, and backup issues.
Interestingly, Altiris also deals in software that tracks cost and maintenance issues for hardware.
As part of this deal with Symantec, the Altiris stockholders will receive $33 per share of common stock. The deal is however still requires approval from the Altiris stockholders and regulators.
