Accenture to expand presence in India

Consulting firm Accenture has said that they are planning to expand their presence in India. The company aims to raise its staff numbers in India by 30 percent to 35,000 by August this year.

With this, India would become their biggest employment hub after the United States.

The company currently has around 27000 workers on their payroll. They have operations running in six Indian cities including Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai.

This workforce in India represents around 19 percent of its global workforce. Accenture Chief Executive William Green said in a statement on their plans for India: “At 35,000 people at the end of our fiscal year, India will become the largest country for Accenture, passing the United States. India has become such an essential component of Accenture and the men and women here are very important to our success, to our future.”

They are not alone. IBM and Dell are two other US based companies which are expanding massively in India.
