Sara Lee Corp. to lay off 1,700 employees
Sara Lee Corp. has said in a statement that they are going to lay off nearly 1,700 employees as part of a reorganization plan.
The company is trying to reorganize their business operations to increase business performance.
This means that the company is getting rid of around 3% of their entire workforce.
Sara Lee said that around 1,200 workers will be laid off when the company closes its pork processing and FlavoTech spice production plants in West Point, Miss., on March 30.
The company said in a statement: “Unfortunately, after looking at our business, we determined that these facilities will not allow us to meet our efficiency or long-term profitability expectations.”
