It’s time maybe Apple should look at the Indian market seriously. Sales of notebook computers are stronger than ever here.
As per market reports, the PCs sales for India grew 19 percent over the same period in the previous year. The demand was strong from the e-governance projects and the outsourcing industry.
Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT) said in a statement that a total of 2.96 million PCs were sold in the six months ended September 30 last year.
The group further said that the PC sales are forecast to be close to 6.5 million for the Indian fiscal year ending March 31.
The good news is that the laptop sales grew by 180 percent in the six months to September 30. The growth in desktop sales was about 8 percent. Microprocessor Company Intel has also said that the market is likely to see continues growth in sales of portable computers due to the flexibility they provide.
Laptops have become cheaper and more powerful in the recent times and they are becoming a stronger replacement option for desktops.
