NTT DoCoMo profits down 28.4 per cent
Japan’s largest mobile service provider NTT DoCoMo has said that their profits went down 28.4 per cent in the most recent quarter.
The company is facing intense competition in the domestic market ever since the regulatory bodies loosened the laws related to number portability.
NTT DoCoMo reported net income of 93.9 billion yen in the October-December period. This is down from 131.1 billion yen a year earlier.
The sales were up by a meager 0.4 per cent to 1.2136 trillion yen. The operating profit was up 18.4 per cent to 160 billion yen.
NTT DoCoMo said that they are planning to add more mobile phone models in their lineup to enhance customer interest in their services.
NTT DoCoMo president and CEO Masao Nakamura said in a statement: “While the business climate surrounding us is expected to become increasingly harsh, we will devote ourselves to serving our customers and striving to improve every aspect of our service offerings.”
