Nanjing Automobile Group to start MG car production in Britain
Chinese car maker Nanjing Automobile Group has said in a statement that they would soon start production of the iconic MG sports car in England.
This would end the two-year halt after MG Rover collapsed which resulted in loss of 5,000 jobs in the country.
Nanjing had at that time managed to outbid rivals Shanghai Automotive to take over MG Rover for around 50 million pounds in 2005.
The company said that they now aim to make 6,000 TF sports cars a year. Lv Qiang, public affairs director of Nanjing MG Motor said that the production should begin in UK by April or May this year.
They had also shipped some of the MG production lines to China. They aim to start manufacturing cars using MG technology by late March.

Fantastic news. I’ve owned Longbridge cars for years and years and have found them all, from my little Allegro to the Rover 45 and now my MG XS, to be really well built cars. I can’t wait until these cars roll off the lines. I will definately be buying one later this year -and I havn’t even seen one yet!
